Middle East Crisis? Not so much a crisis as an ongoing drudgery. By now, if you live in the area you should probably start putting turmoil as one of your hobbies.

This is like when US officials answer questions with, "you have to understand that we're at war". But you're always at war - I want to reply. You've basically been at war for all of your history. The Greeks would call you a fierce and warlike people - it's kinda what you do. (And where you get your dominant social metaphor.) Poignantly, the question usually asks what happened to all the American values.
