When the Serious Organised Crime Agency took over from the Funny Organised Crime Agency, it marked a turning point in the way the British state tackled crime. While the no-nonsense approach of SOCA has been lauded by some, critics maintain the move has left the UK with a crime fighting blind spot the size of a custard pie which is massive.
