The problem with "Customers Who Bought This Item Also Bought X", with customising search results, and with "Personalize this page" is the flip side to why editors are good. In news, search and products/media, it could well do me good to be exposed to stuff that's out there which I don't know about or I'm not interested in. Because in the most customised universe, everything I see only confirms what I already believe and I only see stuff I might buy. So, for example, an increasingly right-wing lover of collectible decorative figurines would stand no chance.
