Happy Easter.

Malacca's a friendly place. And it's got so much old stuff lying around - buildings that stretch deep into the block, furniture and antiques - it has a calming effect. As ever, the food's really great. Malay meets Chinese, Portuguese, Dutch, Indian and British influences. Absolutely everyone had the Malaysia, Singapore & Brunei Lonely Planet, 10th edition. The 14th edition of Southeast Asia on a Shoestring's just out so it should be in circulation soon. This is 33 years on from the first edition Tony and Maureen Wheeler put together and the first since BBC Worldwide bought 75% of the company last October.
