Saw Tim Crouch's an oak tree the other day. For each performance he invites an actor who's not seen the play to perform the other part - but it's tightly directed rather than improv. I'd have liked to see more potential for complicity, resistance and performance, and less easy pathos. As it was, Thursday's experiment explored ideas about manipulative and bullying behaviour in sometimes manipulative and bullying ways. Which is less brave.
