"Through social networks, have we created a de facto, unregulated "Real ID" infrastructure?" - Alessandro Acquisti, CMU (draft pdf, 4th August presentation).
Summary: Better face recognition software, more named photos online and faster processing mean a smartphone photo of someone in the street can pull up their name, birthday and inferred social security number. Social networks provide "the social backbone", even offline.
