Yesterday as we sat in the classroom reading Flaubert, light suffused in sideways off the snow on the ground and the snow in the air and filled the room with an expectant calm. Quiet ambient white. With that quality of light, it felt like we were flying. The doors were sealed, the cabin pressure had changed ever so slightly and we settled in for the long haul.

Thank you for all your comments today. I wonder who you are.

Ideally I would insert an emoticon here. Perhaps a lovely friendly smiley face made out of a colon and a close bracket. But I have trouble with that because of the darkness. The Hawkins brothers have actually forbidden me from using emoticons.
