Extract from an email I sent to family members this year:
"I hope you're well. If you are considering getting me some kind of Christmas gift this year I say to you the following. Whereas my sister has suggested that family members go to http://www.oxfamunwrapped.com for her philanthropic gifts, I have instead opted for consumer products this year."
"I've listed some things that I'd especially like to receive on amazon. If none of these seem right, or if this all seems a little bit too tidy, please happily ignore these suggestions, nay, this initiative. Also, if instead you would rather after all buy a school dinner for 100 West African school children (£6), I'll try my best to think kindly of you come Christmas day."
