Even having lived in the US for a while, little little things about American English can somehow still upset me. Here are some of those: when people end a clause with "and such"; sentences in which one word is replaced by screaming, as in, "Hi. Can I get a Car'mel Macchiato" - where the "I" is just a short high-pitched scream (I find this bizarre and terrifying); conversely, people sympathetically trying to recreate the British English style of question intonation through the medium of sounding retarded in the middle of saying the final word (this does sound retarded, but not in an especially British way); also just the word "discombobulated" - please can everyone stop using this word. It's a silly word - and it also causes me actual physical pain.
