There's a new vending machine at the end of the street that gives tailored responses depending on the time of day and possibly the drink you choose. Buying a hot can of coffee in the morning elicits the encouragement "itterashai!", while a cold coffee at night-time is greeted with "otsukaresama-deshita" - which roughly translates as "Good work, you must be tired".

  2. Cider's not an option. Neither is Pocari Sweat. Which is a pity because Pocari Sweat is a brilliant drink, rich in ions, slightly salty, and made from the sweat of the mythical pocari.
