On upsetting power: This month under pressure from the US, Visa, MasterCard, PayPal and Amazon Web Services ended business with WikiLeaks. Separately, the UK Cards Association asked Cambridge University to take down a student's MPhil thesis on chip and pin vulnerabilities. A reply last week: "This shows a deep misconception of what universities are and how we work. Cambridge is the University of Erasmus, of Newton, and of Darwin; censoring writings that offend the powerful is offensive to our deepest values." Ooh, they so sensitive.
