Apple came to tablets with a tablet-ready operating system. And Android has Honeycomb (launching in the UK on Wednesday). So when will Microsoft have a competitive OS for tablets? How about if the industry can just wait until the end of the year (at least) for Windows 8. We learn Ballmer rejected a promising tablet OS in 2009 ("Courier"). The "innovator's dilemma" captures how it won't seem to make financial or institutional sense for Microsoft to cannibalise Windows - and then the market has changed.
